Bringing New Light to Las Vegas – Transition Networks to Display New Fiber-Optic Products at BICSI Fall Conference

By: Curt Carlson | Posted in: ,

2015-bicsi-fallThe lights of the Las Vegas strip – home of the BICSI Fall Conference – are world famous. Transition Networks will add some of its own bright lights to the city when we bring our newest and most trusted fiber-optic products to the show.

Earlier this week, we launched a new N-GXE-POE-xx-01 two-port Gigabit Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) PCIe network interface card (NIC) for network installations that user fiber-to-the-desktop for increased data security.

The PoE NIC device complements Transition Networks’ ION Multi-Service Integration Platform, a scalable, multi-protocol system that aggregates connections from a variety of our ION network interface device products. The ION platform is designed for both carrier class and enterprise network applications where multiple points of fiber integration and secure network management of the fiber interface devices are essential.

We’ll be showcasing both of these products in our booth (#405) at the BICSI Fall Conference, which takes place September 20-24. Product Management Director Tony LeFebvre and I will be discussing the company’s full line of high-speed fiber integration solutions.

The newly released N-GXE-POE-xx-01 was developed to enable use of PoE to support VoIP phones, WiFi access points and other powered devices in fiber-to-the-desktop networks. It includes both a 1000Base-SX Multimode fiber port and a switched 10/100/1000BaseT RJ-45 PoE port supporting the IEEE 802.3at PoE+ standard.

The PoE NIC adapter is a space-saving alternative to using two copper-to-fiber media converters at the desktop. The N-GXE-POE-xx-01 also has a PCIe form factor with added data traffic switching intelligence between the fiber port and the adjacent RJ45 copper port. It preserves all data priority and virtual LAN tagging to ensure high quality of service for VoIP communications.

A major advantage of the PoE NIC device is that it continues to switch traffic between the copper and fiber ports and provide power even when the PC is in hibernation or sleep mode.

I’ve used Transition Networks’ products in my customer installations for years. I’ve always found their products, customer service, sales, and tech support to be top-notch. I wouldn’t even consider using another brand.
