ExpressCard Network Interface Cards (NICs)
An ExpressCard slot is a standardized slot built into laptops to support additional connectivity to the laptop through the insertion of an ExpressCard NIC. The ExpressCard standard replaced the PC Card (PCMCIA) standard and specifies two form factors: a 34mm wide ExpressCard/34 and a 54mm wide ExpressCard 54, which also supports 34mm ExpressCards. Like all network adapters, these ExpressCard NICs utilize drivers supporting the operating system in use on the PC.
