We also discuss Retiming, Reshaping, and Reamplifying (the 3R’s) a 10 Gigabit signal in order to help overcome the distance restrictions associated with 10GbE. And finally, we discuss the future of 10Gigabit Ethernet and a new way to calculate long distance; the extinction ratio.
Intro to Smart Grid BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer
With the American Recovery Act of 2009, monies were allocated to fund new and innovative ways of bringing our current power grid structure into a 21st century economy. Intro to Smart Grid serves to define what the concept “Smart Grid” really means, while also covering how Ethernet will likely play a large role in the re-architecture of our current power grid structure.
Managing the Customer Premise Demarcation BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 OSP, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer
This session will define terms like Carrier Ethernet, User Network Interface (UNI), and Service Level Agreements. While also taking an in-depth look at 802.3ah, 802.3ag, and Y.1731 protocols in order to explain how these standards are reshaping the necessary set of tools required for enabling Carrier Class Ethernet Service delivery.
Media Conversion in Video Security and Surveillance Systems BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 ESS, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer
In the ever increasing reach of today's video security and surveillance systems, many security professionals are finding that the quality, bandwidth and distance needed to perform even the most basic surveillance is beyond the reach of coaxial and UTP cabling. Learn the benefits of utilizing fiber optic cabling to overcome these copper limitations, as well as how media conversion can ease the transition within an existing video architecture.
Conversion in Industrial Environments BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician
Industrial environments present unique challenges for the use of media
converters and other electronics. In addition to serial protocols already in
use today, Ethernet is becoming the protocol of choice among network
professionals designing Industrial applications. Ethernet is quickly moving
from the office to the factory floor and to outdoor enclosures. Learn about the
history of protocol revolution, unique design challenges and applications for
conversion technology in industrial environments. Conversion Technology in Telco Environments: T1/E1 and DS3/E3 Solutions BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician
This training will cover the technology overview, product features and
benefits as well as typical applications for t1/e1 as well as DS3/E3 signal in
data and voice environments. Fiber Mode Conversion BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician
Learn how fiber mode conversion technology can be deployed as a cost effective
alternative in mixed multimode and single mode cabling environments. Fiber Optic Basics BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer
This session describes the nomenclature of fiber optic cable, discusses types
of fiber optic cable and covers common deployments of Single Mode and Multi
mode fiber. Introduction to Media Conversion Technology BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer

plants. Networking Basics for Cabling Installers & Electrical Contractors BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician, 1 RITP, 1 Certified Trainer
Cabling installers and contractors in the past had typically focused on
intallation of the cabling plant only. Cabling installers are, in some cases
by choice and in other cases by customer demand, becoming more involved in
the installation of active network components. In new construction,
electrical contractors are being asked with increased frequency to install
data cabling along with the electrical cabling they install; which also many
involve the need for active network components. This session is intended to
give installers and contractors who are considering adding the installation
of active network components to thier product/service offering a basic
understanding of common network components and protocols. New at Transition
Every last training session of the month Transition will highlight new
additions to its line of Conversion Technology products. Point System: The Point Where Copper and Fiber Meet BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC): 1 RCDD, 1 NTS, 1 Installer Technician
