Many Point System devices have several connector options. For example, the CFETF100 Fast Ethernet TX to FX Media Converter can be purchased with any of the following fiber options: ST Multimode, ST Singlemode, SC Multimode, SC Singlemode, SC Singlemode Long Haul, SC Singlemode Extra Long Haul, and SC Singlemode Long Haul Long Wavelength.
One of these options is installed and configured at the time of manufacture, and cannot be changed thereafter. In the case of socketed transceiver modules, the 'media connector type' of the interface will simply show that a socket is present. The type of module installed in the socket will be available through separate MIB variables whose values are not discussed here.
