Answers: If I want to print directly to a parallel or serial port, what are the port numbers?- For the MIL-3100, the port numbers are 2000 (parallel) and 2001 (serial). For the MIL-3200, the port numbers are 2010 (parallel 1), 2020 (serial 1), 2011 (parallel 2), and 2021 (serial 2). For the MIL-3400, the port number is 2000 (parallel).
Is there more than one way of assigning an IP address?- Yes. You may assign an IP address using arp and telnet, RARP or BOOTP in UNIX and arp and Telnet in WinNT/Win95. However in NetBEUI and NetBIOS platform (Win311/Win95), you may use our utilities called NBMON.EXE and SHOWPRN.EXE to assign IP address. Please refer to your manual for information or contact Technical Support at (408)744-2751.
How do I use the arp command to assign the IP address?- In Windows 95 and Windows NT:
Use the arp command with the -s option and dashes between ethernet address.
For example: arp -s ipaddress 00-40-c8-xx-xx-xx <enter>. What is the Telnet port number?- Telnet port number is 2002. Port 2002 is reserved for the Diagnostic port for FastPort™.
To activate a telnet session use syntax: telnet <ipaddress> 2002 How do I set the default router on the FastPort™?- Our FastPort™ print server only provides Subnet Mask option for SNMP and or Syslog purposes. FastPort™ itself does not need to set subnet mask in order to work in WAN or LAN environments nor a need to set a Default Router. All it needs to have is an IP address.
How do I obtain the latest firmware for the FastPort™ print server?- You can ftp (using web browser or ftp client) to ftp.milan.com
If using ftp then just login as anonymous. Use your e-mail address as the password.
Change dir to /pub/printsrv/firmware and select an appropriate product directory.
The actual flash image files have .hex or .chx extentions. For example the latest firmware (version 6.1.16) file for FastPort™ model 3100CX
or 3100CX+ should be 31fp6116.hex
