(NASDAQ-GM: JCS), today announced the availability of UL Class 1 Div 2 Certified media converters and switches as part of its industrial product portfolio. The addition of Class 1 Div 2 certification enables industrial customers to extend their network to end devices located in hazardous locations such as oil and gas refining and petrochemical manufacturing operations, among others.
Class 1 Div 2 rated equipment, under intended operating conditions, is incapable of igniting flammable gas or vapor-air mixtures. To ensure all standard requirements were met or exceeded, new products were independently tested by Underwriters Laboratory (UL). Transition’s new portfolio offerings include expanded industrial Ethernet media converters in both 10/100 and gigabit speeds, and industrial Ethernet switches, including a fully managed, all-Gigabit device. Designed to reliably operate in harsh networking environments found on factory floors, outdoor enclosures or other hazardous environments, all of Transition Networks’ industrial products are backed by an unsurpassed “Lifetime Warranty without the Fine Print” guarantee.
“Many of our customers in the oil and gas refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries want to extend their networks into plant operations that are often defined as hazardous locations,” said Patrick Schaber, Director of Marketing at Transition Networks. “By providing Class 1 Div 2 certification for many of our industrial products, we can deliver solutions that are durable and safe, better serving our customers. Now, Transition Networks makes it possible to manage industrial processes in nearly any type of plant environment.”
The newest additions to Transition’s industrial product portfolio include switches and media converters offered in an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C. The products also provide dual, redundant, auto-sensing 12 - 48VDC power inputs with reverse polarity power input protection and overload current protection, as well as relay contact output circuits for controlling external alarms. DIN-rail and wall mount brackets are included as standard.
