Manufacturing Engineer
Manufacturing Engineer

PURPOSE: Creating, documenting, developing, improving and implementing procedures used to assemble, process, test and/or manufacture of Transition Networks’ products.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide assistance to Contract Manufacturers to achieve maximum performance.
  2. Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles on the manufacturing floor.
  3. Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues using failure mode effect analysis.(FMEA)
  4. Define, refine and improve existing processes including:
    • Manufacturing test procedures
    • Process development
    • Creation of process documentation
    • Product design for manufacturability and assembly
    • Capacity, efficiency and floor design
    • Production processing
    • Problem solving
  5. Liaison between Engineering and Production.
  6. Review new product design for manufacturability.
  7. Design, install, and debug tooling and capital equipment.
  8. Manage test equipment for Contract Manufacturers and internal customers.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Nature & Scope

  • Reports to Director of Manufacturing Operations.

Environmental Job Requirements:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Computer skills: requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to read Schematics.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere.
  • Understanding of EMC and safety certifications as related to product manufacturing.
  • Familiar with IPC-A-610 standard.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four year college degree in a Technical field.
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5
  • 10-15% travel: Domestic and International.
  • Must be a self starter.
  • Background in quality assurance testing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with ISO 9001 and/or 14001 development environment.
  • Training in CAD and or Visio
  • Training in Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in networking product manufacturing.
  • Familiar with Six Sigma principles
