The Carrier Ethernet Revolution will be Televised

Transition Networks recently had a successful exhibition at Ethernet Europe 2010, hosted by Light Reading, in London. The event’s primary focus of covering Carrier Ethernet network technologies and services within Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) continued to be a very hot topic and was widely attended by service providers and enterprises alike. Vice President of Worldwide Sales Operations, Dave Stenger, had the opportunity to sit down with Light Reading and highlight what Transition Networks is doing to support the ever evolving Carrier Ethernet market.

Key topics presented include: MEF 9 & 14 functionality and performance test programs, benefits to enterprises, service providers and equipment vendors, and MEF 18, 21 programs overview & future certifications. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced that Product Manager Art Felgate will be presenting at the BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, to be held September 20-24, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. The presentation, titled “Power Over Ethernet Defined”, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Years ago if you asked a network installer if a power cable and a data cable could be run in the same conduit they would say no. Today, the answer is quite different. With Power over Ethernet (PoE), power and data can be run over the same four pair Category 5 cable. The driving force behind this change: 802.3af. It defines how devices can be made to supply and accept power over data cable. (more…)

BICSI Fall Conference Gets Attendees Revved Up For Success

BICSI hosted another successful conference earlier this month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and I’m happy to say that I was a part of it. I know the old adage that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But for the purposes of this post, I will break the rules and fill you in on exactly what took place.

The opening keynote featured Ken Schmidt, who spent over 12 years helping Harley Davidson build its brand reputation. He explained that “marketing yourself or your business shouldn’t be done in a rational or logical manner, because unless it’s a life or death decision – we don’t think with logic. We think with emotion from the heart. And that’s how you can make that human connection and continue to relate to customers as we keep advancing in a technology driven society.” (more…)
